HAPPY EFFING B-DAY DUDE!!

(To my dear partner: In drinking, trivia, mischief and more…)

Freed,

I know this is belated, but when was the last time you saw me coming in on time?? I have had you in my thoughts all day, and I just now have come to the point of having enough time to post this in your honor, as you deserve.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I am blessed to have you as accomplice through good times and Tinker times; through lost keys and low cuts; through trivia triumphs and trounces; and through whatever comes next for us all.

What would the Chilean do without you?

I am grateful for your courage to invite me to blog with you, and for allowing me to become part of this experience. You opened a whole new dimension for me.

Everybody, join in: Raise thy glass --and shake thy ass-- to the Freedonian!!

Salud!!

Thank you, Pam!

I've got to say, the new year is off to a great start; Following Jack Benny's fine example, I'm now five years away from the time when I quit counting.

As far as me being courageous in asking you to join me here... I'd have beeen a dumbass not to.

Everybody, join in: Raise thy glass --and shake thy ass--

Now THAT is a birthday wish I can get into!

Thank you, Pam. You're the best.

Can someone tell me which of the ninth district runners have endorse Cohen? Has Bolton or Redwing? Tinker or Stanton? Mitchell or White? Harris or Whitman?

With all of this Jake Ford lurking in the background. I wonder if one of the ninth district runner ups might endore him.

Last but not least Happy Birthday and many more.

Dabney,

It's looking good so far! Thank you, my friend. I heard someone else has one coming soon...

Anonymous,

Thank you for the birthday wishes. From what I hear, Lee Harris is stepping up and has made the endorsement. There's another that I'm hearing rumors about making an announcement soon.

The refusal to endorse by some of the candidates shows where their loyalties are, and they're not with the Democratic Party. Refusing to do the right thing once you've lost the primary is so... Lieberman.

Thanks, for the info. I wonder why so many candidates are hesitant to endorse Cohen. I wonder if they are pondering write-in campaigns or backing Jake Ford.

Wendy Thomas' column in the CA was off the mark, before these candidates can think about a lower or local office. They need to endorse Cohen. It shows that they care about Memphis and the party.

They out to be ashamed. Kudos to Harris for stepping up to the plate and endorsing Cohen. Is Harris the only candidate who can put aside personal disappointment for the good of Memphis?

Makes me happy that some of these other candidates didn't win.

Hurrah for another year; may it bring more sunshine than the last.
Unfortunately, I'm too worn out to join you in the glass/ass stuff.
Maybe next week, though.

Joe Ford Jr. has said he will endorse Cohen.

I haven't said it anywhere else, so I'll say it here. I dearly wish we could have had Joe Jr. instead of Harold Jr. Aside from the carpetbagger move, he comes off like a class act.

Absolutely true. I could not have said it better.

These candidates need to demonstrate something that they haven't yet--- A willingness to put the needs of their constituents ahead of their own personal ambitions.

Kudos to Harris for stepping up to the plate and endorsing Cohen.

I suspect that we'll be saying "Kudos to Lee Harris" many times in the years to come, and I'm looking forward to it. He's a standup guy.

Sarah, I am always more than willing to raise a glass with you.

Does anyone know how the Rapscallions scored last night?

Serrabee,

Glass/ass stuff with you is always great, and I enjoy every minute of it. Any time you can join us, I'm grateful.

Autoegocrat,

Have you seen Baker's latest column?

Ford, a formerly California-based entertainment lawyer, is first cousin to both independent Jake Ford and outgoing 9th District congressman Harold Ford Jr., the party nominee for the U.S. Senate. His first post-primary impulse, communicated informally via the blog of Thaddeus Matthews, was to endorse victor Cohen, but he has since indicated he will do some further thinking before formalizing that action.
